Roman Road Closed for 33 days starting 4th October.

This means no access to the Garden centre via the back road from Wendlebury. You will have to take the Chesterton bridge over the A41 and then head for Bicester before coming back along the A41 from the first roundabout. The text of the applicable order follows:
Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Wendlebury, Roman Road - Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 27 September 2010. Coming into force: 4 October 2010

This Order is being introduced because of carriageway widening and footway construction. The works are anticipated to take 33 days continuously from Monday 4 October to, and including Friday 5 November and from 09.00 until 17.00hrs on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 October 2010. During the final two days an archaeological investigation to aid future works schemes will take place.
The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Roman Road which runs between its junction with the road to the A41 over-bridge towards Chesterton, and a point just south of the Thames Water Sewage Treatment Works Access near Bicester Avenue.
Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for police, fire and ambulance services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via the A41. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
