Book Clubs

There are two book clubs in the Village.

Other Wendlebury Book Club
We usually meet monthly on a Wednesday evening in The Lion Pub, Lavender Room. This book club is open to anyone who’s interested in broadening their reading and discussing books they’ve read. We have no particular genre in mind and everyone takes turns choosing the next book for the group to read and starting us off with their thoughts. Our discussion is informal, sharing opinions and thoughts about the book, nothing more highbrow.

For further information please contact Zoe Bell (zoe1.bell@btinternet.com).

Examples of books we have read and enjoyed in the club:

  • The Art of Hearing Heart Beats by Jan-Phillip Sendker
  • The Dry by Jane Harper
  • The Humans by Matt Haig
  • A Man Called Ove by Frederik Backman
  • Step by Step by Simon Reeves
  • Still Life by Sarah Winman

Wendlebury Book Group
In September 2006 a small group of us got together to form a book group. This was after we discovered a mutual passion for reading and regularly talking about books we had read and swapping books. We rapidly grew to a group of ten who meet once a month to discuss a book. One person chooses a book we read it and meet at that persons house the following month and discuss the book. Sometimes we use discussion guidelines other times we just have a general discussion.

While we do not want to be exclusive we feel that the membership is currently at its maximum both in terms of manageability and the logistics of fitting into someone’s home. If you are interested in setting up another group we would be happy to advise and put you in contact with others who might want to join. If you would like to know any more please contact Lindsay Daulton 248651
